The Smart Fortwo is already established as one of the greenest cars around – but now it’s about to get even greener.
To be launched in the autumn, the new version will feature engines with lower fuel consumption, as well as a fresh interior look and an upgraded exterior.
With the 40kW cdi turbodiesel model, carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions are slashed to just 86g/km while the optimised petrol engines also lower their emissions. Thanks to work on the engine control unit and exhaust system both the 45kW mhd and 52kW mhd consume 56mpg and have CO2 emissions of just 97g/km.
The 62kW version does well too – it consumes 48mpg with emissions figures at 114g/km. Meanwhile, the power output of the BRABUS version has been increased to 75kW but even it retains CO2 emissions below the 120g/km threshold at 119g/km.
