Nissan has introduced a new version of its popular X-TRAIL model that reports significant emission reductions.
The six-speed automatic transmission option for the diesel X-TRAIL 20GT will go on sale in Japan on July 16 and meets Japan’s post new long-term regulations emission standards.
Under the terms of the regulations, nitrogen oxide emissions are stipulated to not exceed 0.08g/km and PM emissions are restricted to 0.005g/km – these are reductions of 47 per cent and 64 per cent respectively when compared to the levels required by the new long-term regulations that have been in effect since 2005.
The levels are the equivalent of Euro 6 standards for diesels, which are scheduled to come into effect in 2014.
As a further bonus for prospective buyers, the Nissan X-TRAIL clean diesel 20GT is exempt from the automobile acquisition tax in Japan and the automobile weight tax – it also benefits from government subsidies intended to promote the introduction of clean diesel cars.
