Phoenix to unveil new electric sports truck

Even trucks are getting the green treatment with Motorcars to present an electric sport utility truck as part of the FedFleet 2010 Conference in , Arizona, which kicks off later today.

The vehicle is capable of travelling at motorway speeds with the ability to carry four passengers. It offers a 70mile range pack with an extended 100mile range pack option to be made available next year – each solution equipped with lithium-ion batteries.

Despite the name, Phoenix Cars LLC is actually a Delaware company and is wholly-owned by LLC with headquarters in Ontario, California. was founded in Dubai in 1953 and is now one of the leading commercial groups in the United Arab Emirates.

It is expected that Phoenix Motorcars will begin production of the vehicle soon with the first deliveries expected later this year. The initial vehicles will also come with demonstration programmes and fleet operations in a number of locations, including California.

I’ll believe it when I see it. They already went under so how this is possible I’m not sure. Unless they got a new sucker…errr…..I mean benefactor to bankroll them. So far all phoenix has done is burn through angel investor money. Nothing but a prototype has been seen. None have been sold even though they were scheduled to go on sale in 2007/2008. Nothing but delays and excuses. I wonder if some of these same people are involved with the mahindra diesel pickup that is now two years overdue.
