Canada gains solar-powered car wash

Canada has got its first solar-powered car wash this week, as Skogies car wash in British Columbia unveils its new greener car cleaning system.

RCI Solar, a US company, supplied the solar system which powers the water heating system to help get a better clean. According to the solar power firm, using hot water decreases the amount of water and detergent needed to get a thorough clean and can reduce the use of chemicals by 50 per cent, adding to the green credentials of the solar car wash.

Solar energy is also used to heat the floor at the entrance and exit of the wash bay, preventing ice build-up and increasing safety, during those hard Canadian winters.
