China is set to issue three new standards to regulate the charging infrastructure for electric cars, the Shanghai Securities News reports.
According to the publication, the government intends to introduce new standards in October which would cover technical requirements for charging facilities.
The news emerges shortly after the country announced the formation of a new ‘Association of the Electric Vehicle Industry’ (see story) as the country seeks to push ahead in the manufacture of electric cars.
The publication cites an unnamed source at the State Electricity Regulatory Commission which revealed the regulator is in discussions with power grid operators and fuel producers to establish further standards for the alternative power cars.
China-now the world’s biggest car market-is set to invest 100 billion yuan over the next ten years into the ‘new energy’ car market.
