It certainly has many faces – including the Mitsubishi i-MiEV and the Citroen C-ZERO – but now it is ready to be launched as the Peugeot i0n and the French car maker has revealed the vehicle’s specifications.
The i0n is scheduled to go on display at the Paris Motor Show with Peugeot hoping to put the electric vehicle on sale at the end of the year. It will be marketed mainly on an ‘all-inclusive’ mobility offer. For example, in France the offer lasts five years and costs €499 including VAT and incorporates: the vehicle and its battery; servicing and maintenance for five years or 50,000km; specific electric assistances; and a five year warranty.
It is expected that Peugeot will target the i0n primarily at local governments, as well as local authorities and public services. In the first half of this year alone it has signed 15 letters of intent, including with three public transport companies; six leasing companies; and six energy companies.
So what about the vehicle’s specifications?
Its powertrain is an electric motor and single-ratio reduction gearbox with the motor supplied by a 330V, three-phase alternating current. It regulates the current, frequency and voltage according to the position of the accelerator pedal and the car can reach a top speed of 81mph with a maximum torque of 180Nm and maximum power of 47kW.
Range on the standard European cycle is 93miles and the instrument panel includes a battery charge indicator that lets the driver know the battery charge level. It also indicates economical driving with the green zone indicating that driving is being carried out with minimal energy consumption; the white zone indicating ‘energy hungry’ driving; and the blue charge zone points to the level of energy recovery; while the trip computer offers available range.
