Mitsubishi Fuso Truck and Bus Corporation, part of Daimler Trucks, is set to unveil its new Fuso Canter E-CELL concept truck.
The electric vehicle will make its debut as part of the IAA Commercial Vehicles event in Hanover from September 21-30. It has a range of around 75miles and is well-suited to urban centres and other environmentally sensitive areas.
It is considered suitable for every day use with batteries positioned in the chassis frame and a 3.5ton gross vehicle weight.
The Canter will also be produced as a hybrid with a conventional diesel engine. There are around 1,000 of the Fuso Canter Eco Hybrids on the road already in Japan, Australia, Hong Kong and Ireland, as well as in a large scale testing programme in London.
Fuel savings are available of between 10 and 15 per cent depending on the region in which the vehicle is used. It has fuel efficiency of 27mpg and currently has the lowest fuel consumption of any truck in Japan.
