Yet another electric vehicle partner for Renault-Nissan

Another letter of intent has been signed by the Renault-Nissan Alliance – this time with E.Leclerc Centres.

The aim is to develop a programme that will equip the centres’ car parks with charging infrastructure for electric vehicles. It is expected that 50 centres will be equipped by 2011, 150 by the end of 2012 and 500 by 2015.

The companies will work together to launch a programme to install the charging infrastructure while also looking into new services related to these vehicles such as short-term rentals.

Working groups will be established to help choose the type of charging installation that will match the needs of electric vehicle owners; to identify the number of charging spots to install at each centre; and to implement the charging infrastructure itself.

According to estimates from Renault, electric vehicles will represent around 10 per cent of vehicle sales in France by 2020 and with a 17 per cent market share E.Leclerc is a key player as the leader of mass market retailing in the country.
