CODA electric cars get car hire boost

The all-new electric CODA Sedans will be included in Enterprise-Rent-A-Car fleets from 2011.

The company has decided to introduce 100 of the vehicles to its line up offering space for five passengers and a full-size boot. The vehicles come with a 33.8kWh battery system with active thermal management and provide a range up to 120miles. With a 6.6kW on-board charger a full charge can be completed in less than six hours while a recharge for a 40mile commute takes less than two hours.

According to Lee Broughton, the director of sustainability for Enterprise Holdings, the vehicle will not only meet the needs of many customers but also help to “lift the veil” on electric vehicles helping drivers to better understand the technology.

At the moment, Enterprise’s environmental sustainability programme includes a fuel-efficient fleet; an operational commitment to reduce energy use and cost by 20 per cent over the next five years; and an investment in alternative fuels.

The two companies have also agreed for Enterprise to provide courtesy transportation vehicles to CODA customers during service and maintenance periods.
