Poland joins electric vehicle race

There are plenty of countries battling for superiority in the green car race, from the USA to Japan, and from China to France. However, now you can add another name to the list: Poland.

Polish firm Romet presented a prototype small neighbourhood electric car named 4E as part of the Intermot 2010 in Cologne. The 4E is expected to go into production in 2011 and mainly appear in Western European markets.

It’s likely to be cheap too. The two-seat vehicle is expected to be marketed in the range of €6,000-€7,000.

Among its features are two BLDC motors that have a total power output of about 4kW as well as a lithium-ion or lead-acid battery pack with a capacity of around 10kWh. It can reach a top speed of 28mph and has a range of 62miles.
