The new Audi Q7 SUV will benefit from a new 3.0litre diesel engine that offers remarkable fuel consumption figures.
The 3.0l TDI offers 204hp while consuming just 32.7mpg with CO2 emissions at a mere 189g/km. The figures are partly prompted by the fact the 3.0l V6 weighs less than 441lbs and features a number of measures that minimise internal friction. The crankcase and cylinder heads, for example, feature separate cooling water circuits; while the coolant is not circulated within the block while the engine warms up.
In addition, the common-rail system features piezo injectors that provide injection pressure up to 2,000 bar; while the turbocharger and camshafts’ control times are optimised for maximum efficiency. The vehicle will also feature a start-stop system that deactivates when the vehicle comes to a stop; and an energy recovery system.
The Audi Q7 SUV can accelerate from 0-100km/h in 9.1 seconds and reaches a top speed of 127mph. Its maximum torque is available just above the idling point at 450Nm.
