Renault-Nissan to bring electric vehicles to Northern Ireland

The Renault-Nissan Alliance has been making a number of electric vehicle partnerships around the world – and now it has made an agreement in Northern Ireland.

A memorandum of understanding has been signed by both the Alliance and the Northern Ireland Department for Regional Development and Department of Environment.

As part of the agreement, joint working teams will be established in a bid to create an electric vehicle infrastructure network. They will also look into incentives that should make electric vehicles easier to buy and run, while Renault-Nissan will share its ideas relating to charging networks, energy supply and electric vehicle training.

The Plugged in Places bid will be submitted to the Office for Low Emission Vehicles in London by the end of the week. The initiative is designed to provide funding for electric vehicle infrastructure in a number of successful cities and regions.

I would imagine that an electric car would be the most economical to run, but there’s charging it up, it’ll be like having to fill your car up daily or even twice daily, and that’s an inconvenience in a world addicted to convenience! I would go with gas converted or hybrid myself!
