Nissan will launch its latest hybrid car – the Nissan Fuga Hybrid – in Japan on November 2.
The vehicle uses Nissan’s original intelligent dual clutch control one motor, two-clutch parallel hybrid system and achieves fuel economy of 44.7mpg, making it comparable to a compact car despite offering the performance of a luxury vehicle.
The system produces maximum torque of 270Nm and, as one of the two clutches completely disconnects the motor from the engine, a quiet and efficient electric vehicle mode can be achieved. When compared to regular hybrid systems, the electric motor driving range is expanded for high-speed driving to more than 62mph; it is also frequently applied helping the Nissan Fuga Hybrid to best in class fuel economy.
It is equipped with a lithium-ion battery pack, a new electronic seven-speed hybrid transmission with manual shift mode, double piston shock absorbers and an advanced electro-hydraulic power system with electric drive intelligent brake system.
Overall, the Nissan Fuga Hybrid achieves a 25 per cent improvement in fuel economy when compared to 2010 standards and emits 75 per cent less exhaust compared to 2005 standards. In Japan it also qualifies for the next generation vehicle tax break meaning it is exempt from automobile acquisition tax and automobile weight tax.
