Toyota to test plug-in hybrid in China

Japanese car manufacturer Toyota will put its Prius Plug-in Hybrid to the test in China.

The company has joined forces with the Chinese government-affiliated China Automotive Technology and Research Centre to conduct joint verification tests of the vehicle in Tianjin.

The idea behind the tests is that they will determine the adaptability and usefulness of the Prius Plug-in Hybrid in the country with Toyota to select drivers to evaluate the vehicle during use for commuting and other daily purposes with the research centre measuring fuel efficiency, charging times, range and more.

According to Toyota executive vice president Takeshi Uchiyamada, electricity is exceptionally promising as vehicles are distanced from petroleum. He believes that greater use, will lockstep with China’s electrification policy.
