CODA Automotive chief steps down

The CEO of CODA Holdings, the California-based electric vehicle and battery system company, has resigned.

Kevin Czinger has stepped aside with Steven Heller to assume the role of interim chief executive officer while a search is launched for a new CEO.

According to CODA, the management realignment was part of an ongoing plan at this stage of its growth, as it bids to put a team in place with deep manufacturing, sales and marketing strengths. Czinger meanwhile will continue with the company as senior strategic advisor.

Daniel Weiss has been asked to lead the search for the new CEO while Heller assumes the role on a temporary basis. Heller had previously served as co-chairman of CODA’s board and has strong working relationships with employees, executives and business partners of the company. He also served for 20 years at Goldman Sachs in key executive positions.

Czinger meanwhile will continue with the company as senior strategic advisor. He joined CODA in 2008 and created and founded the programme to develop an entirely new powertrain and battery system for the all-electric CODA sedan.
