Tesla reveals electric vehicle technology plans

Chief Executive Officer of Tesla Motors, Elon Musk, told The Nikkei that his company is interested in licensing its battery and electric vehicle technologies to Toyota and other car manufacturers.

The company has already contacted tie-up partners Toyota and Daimler about their interest in licensing its technologies, according to Musk. In addition, Tesla is interested in “joining hands” with Toyota with regard to customer service with the idea that Tesla’s cars can be serviced at Toyota’s facilities.

In addition, Musk outlined that he expects Japan to be the company’s largest market outside the US. Two of its major shareholders are Toyota and Panasonic, which have invested $50million and $30million respectively.
