The Volvo C70 has been converted with a battery electric powertrain – thanks to a Swedish company called Electroengine.
At the Electric Car Seminar, Helsingborg, the company created the True Electric C70 which accelerates from 0-60mph in less than six seconds, has a top speed in excess of 125mph and a range of up to 200miles on a single charge.
According to Bjorn Karlstrom from Electroengine, the company has already completed several joint projects during the year and now feels the time is right to demonstrate what its True Electric technology is capable of.
It has been able to convert the Volvo C70 into a pure electric car using the most advanced technologies and thanks in part to its latest battery and battery management technology. This combines with the world’s lightest and most energy efficient electric motors and power electronics to produce blistering performance at around 650Nm of torque per wheel.
Now the plan is to use the car to test new breakthrough concepts as the company continues to refine its batteries and powertrains.
