A luxury London hotel is the latest to convert to greener cars, as the newly opened Rafayel Hotel on the Left Bank in Battersea takes delivery of two new SEAT Leon E Ecomotive cars.
The low emissions cars will be used as courtesy cars for the hotel’s guests and have been specifically chosen for their eco-credentials which are in keeping with the hotel’s ethos. Styling itself as ‘one of the world’s first environmentally-conscious luxury hotels’ like the Leon it boasts a number of cutting edge green technologies that minimise its environmental impact without compromising quality.
Incorporating the latest advances in LED lighting, air conditioning and rainwater harvesting, the Rafayel promises to reduce the 70 kg carbon footprint of the average London hotel guest by an impressive 20 per cent.
Featuring SEAT’s new Stop/Start and Brake Energy Recovery technologies, the sleek five-seat Leon has CO2 emissions of just 99 g/km while its combined fuel economy figure of 74.3 mpg, giving it a range of almost 900 miles between fill-ups. Changes to London’s Congestion Charge exemptions in January 2011 mean that the new Leon will be even more appealing as the low emission diesel will be able to operate within the charge zone without paying.
Welcoming the hotel, SEAT UK National Fleet Sales Manager Sally Livingstone said: “I hope the hotel’s guests enjoy their journeys to and from the Rafayel as much as I’m sure they will enjoy their stay at this top class London hotel.”
Meanwhile hotel owner Iqbal Latif is similarly keen to see his guests take advantage of the SEAT courtesy cars. He said: “The arrival of these news cars adds an important extra dimension to the eco credentials of our hotel.”
Prices for the Leon E Ecomotive start from £16,840 RRP.
