Fisker Automotive heads to China

The Fisker Karma has been one of the most talked about vehicles here at TheGreenCarWebsite.co.uk for several years – and now it looks set to break new ground in China.

Fisker Automotive has reached an agreement with China Grand Automotive Group (CGA) to have its vehicles distributed, marketed and serviced in the country – CGA has more than 200 retail stores in the country and carries 40 brands including big names such as Mercedes-Benz, Lamborghini, Lexus and BMW.

There are already 3,000 pre-orders in place for the Karma around the world with the company hoping to sell 15,000 per year globally. It has a range of 300miles and is capable of travelling for 50miles on electric power alone with an additional 250miles on hybrid electric power.

Fisker is also developing a higher volume line of premium electric vehicles with extended range, with production expected to begin in late 2012.

There are now five importers of Fisker vehicles with the company also boasting 42 retailers in North America.
