As the Geneva Motor Show 2011 inches ever closer, another auto manufacturer has announced a significant unveiling at the event.
Volvo has revealed that it will introduce the V60 diesel plug-in hybrid at the showcase, a car that is almost production ready and manages to produce carbon dioxide emissions below 50g/km. Its fuel consumption is just 124mpg with an all-electric range of 31miles and a combined range of 746miles.
The vehicle will be introduced in the European market in 2012 and includes a five-cylinder 2.4litre D5 turbo-diesel with a maximum torque of 440Nm. The rear axle includes an electric motor that produces 70hp as well as six-speed automatic transmission.
According to Stefan Jacoby, the president and CEO of Volvo Cars, the aim of the V60 plug-in hybrid is to attract true car enthusiasts into thinking green because it has all the properties of a genuine sports wagon and still provides real driving pleasure.
The Volvo V60 plug-in hybrid will be officially unveiled at a Press conference on March 1.
