You don’t have to be Heidi Klum to realise that diesel is “in” and petroleum is “out” as far as the French are concerned.
Diesels accounted for 70.3 per cent of new vehicle registrations during January – that’s up a point to 131,230 units. Meanwhile, petrol models fell by a point to 26.3 per cent, or 48,876 units.
There was increased interest in alternative fuels too with registrations of LPG vehicles increasing by 18.6 per cent to 4,282 units – grabbing a 2.3 per cent market share. By contrast, hybrid sales dropped 3.3 per cent to 889 units.
January also marked PSA Peugeot Citroen registering the Peugeot i0n and the Citroen C-ZERO electric cars for the first time – 54 Peugeot i0ns and 30 Citroen C-ZEROs. Other electric car sales included two Renault Fluence models, one Tesla Roadster, nine Mitsubishi i-MiEVs and four Smart Eds.
