Just two days ago we told you about Volvo’s plans to introduce a plug-in hybrid car to its line-up at the Geneva Motor Show (see article) and now we can reveal that it will be lowering the emissions of several of its existing models.
The plan is to introduce DRIVe low-emission versions of the Volvo S60 or V60, with CO2 emissions reduced to 114g/km and 119g/km respectively. Fuel consumption will also fall to 53.5mpg and 51.1mpg respectively.
Both the Volvo S60 and V60 are available with an upgraded 1.6litre diesel engine that meets Euro 5 emission standards, as well as a six-speed manual gearbox and stop/start function.
The Volvo DRIVe badge was introduced to signify the models that offer the best environmental performance in their size segments with upgraded versions of the Volvo C30, S40 and V50 having already been introduced, all with CO2 emissions at just 99g/km. From spring, a Volvo V70 DRIVe and Volvo S80 DRIVe will also be made available with emissions at 119g/km.
