GE to host electric vehicle experience tour

Seven US cities will soon get an insight into the future thanks to the GE electric vehicle experience tour.

GE will bring together local businesses, public sector stakeholders and industry leaders for educational workshops and test drives while presenting the case for electric vehicle ecosystems. Big name companies including Smith Electric Vehicles, GM, Ford, Toyota, Navistar, Smart, Coda and Mitsubishi will all be involved.

The day long stop will include presentations by GE and community leaders with workshops to help stakeholders with electric vehicle planning. Touring dates include San Francisco on March 10; Seattle on March 15; Los Angeles on March 17; and San Diego on March 22. Further tour dates will be announced for Austin, New York City and Washington, DC in spring 2011.

For GE, the tour is part of its ecomagination business strategy with the aim of developing and deploying clean energy technology through innovation and investment. It has already committed to purchasing 25,000 electric vehicles for its own fleet and customers.
