Hino Trucks to introduce new hybrid models

As it bids to drive down emissions, Hino Trucks will introduce new class four and class five cab over engine diesel and diesel electric hybrid models.

The class four market will feature a 155 diesel model and the 155h diesel electric hybrid; each carrying a 14,500lb GVW rating. Meanwhile, the class five market will include the 195 diesel model and the class five diesel electric hybrid, the 195h – each carrying a 19,500lb rating.

Each model will feature a Hino J05E series engine rated at 210hp and 440lb-ft of torque. It will be the first to be packaged with an automatic transmission with the hybrid models to also include a NiMH battery pack. Both models will meet or exceed EPA 2010 emission regulations and an optimised SCR system.

In addition, the trucks will also include a North American standard 33” frame rail width and a standard centre mounted rear fuel tank. There will also be a firm emphasis on aerodynamics and visibility.

Each diesel truck will be available from the start of August, 2011 at dealerships across the US.
