Toyota reveals hybrid car plans

Not content with having secured more than three million sales for its hybrid vehicles to date, Toyota has now unveiled its global vision for the future to convey its direction going forward which includes a significant expansion to its hybrid line-up.

Toyota Motor Corporation president Akio Toyoda revealed that Toyota plans to lead the way in the future of mobility with a commitment to quality, innovation and respect for the planet.

Part of the vision includes a number of interim initiatives for 2015 such as to improve the design and feel of Toyota models and make way for the localisation of vehicle production.

Notably, the company will increase its line of hybrid models with around 10 more to be introduced by 2015 while it continues to develop a full range of plug-in hybrid models, pure electric vehicles and fuel cell models.

In addition, it will look for further gains in fuel economy and focus on minimising its environmental impact on models that are optimised for emerging markets.
