Google tests electric vehicle charging station

Internet giant Google is certainly one of the world’s most forward thinking companies, so it’s no surprise to see it embrace electric vehicle technology.

The company is testing a Plugless Power charging station for electric vehicles at its Mountain View headquarters in California.

Currently, Google boasts several low speed electric vehicles for short range travel around its campus with plug-in vehicles also included for its employee car-sharing programme. It is expected to use the Plugless Power Station to charge a retro-fit short range electric vehicle and has shown interest in testing the technology and understanding how its features could simplify the charging process.

The Plugless Power station has been developed by Evatran LLC and is a level two inductive charging system. Evatran is looking for other fleet trial opportunities with corporations and municipalities as most electric vehicle models are eligible to work with its charging station through a retrofit process.
