GM to participate in Shanghai electric vehicle project

General Motors will participate in the Shanghai Electric Vehicle International Pilot City Partnership after signing a letter of intent during the International Forum on Electric Vehicle Pilot City and Industrial Development.

The partnership has been put together by the Jiading District Shanghai International Automobile City Management Committee Office, the Society of Automotive Engineers of China and Tongji University.

The pilot project was put together by the governments of China and the US at the Clean Energy Ministerial Meeting last year.

Now GM is expected to promote the demonstration and commercialisation of electric vehicles while sharing its advanced technology achievements and expertise. It will also contribute to the development of electric vehicle infrastructure and standards while promoting electric vehicles.
