Electric car comes with its own EV scooter

One of the highlights of the recent Shanghai Motor Show was Chinese resident Geely, which comfortably on home turf revealed several new pre-production and concept cars as it continues to relentlessly grow its business.

McCar FRONTThe most interesting of which had to be the scooter/hybrid car combo, the McCar. The idea of the McCar is that it can be parked out-of-town and your journey continued on the scooter stored in the back of the car, helping to ease city congestion.

According to Coolest-Gadgets.com McCar is planned to be developed as a hybrid model and as a fully electric model capable of a 93 miles per charge. The  electric scooter itself is expected to have a range of 18 miles per charge.

As China is now the home to the world’s worst traffic jams, the idea seems a very sensible one, especially in a country where scooters are popular as affordable modes of transport. Geely, which also owns the Volvo car brand, presented the unique concept at the opening of the Shanghai Motor Show last week.

McCarFrank Zhao, vice president of Zhejiang Geely Holding group, the person in charge of Geely’s R&D said: “Mc stands for magic on Geely McCar. The model, pertaining to Geely’s new product platform, has the comfort of a sedan, portable traffic tools, and convenience. At the same time, McCAR boasts double barrier-free accessibility. As to power system, McCAR equips a traditional gas engine and hybrid power system with double batteries in order to realise the goal of saving energy and reducing exhaustion.”
