London is to welcome a new UK eco motor show, EcoVelocity this September, featuring the latest eco-technologies and low emission cars.
The 4-day event, featuring brands such as Citroen, Fiat, Ford, Honda, Hyundai, Kia, Mitsubishi, Nissan, Peugeot, Renault, SEAT, Vauxhall and Volkswagen, will run from Thursday September 8 to Sunday September 11 2011 and will be staged in the grounds of the iconic Battersea Power Station (subject to final licence approval).
The show will see car makers display their latest green models, including electric, hybrid and low emission conventional cars – most of which will be exempt from paying car tax and congestion charging zones. Each car maker will allow interested visitors to get hands on their new technology cars by offering test drives on a specially constructed circuit.
A highlight of the show for many car enthusiasts is likely to be the Green Supercar Paddock, an exhibition of green supercars such as the Citroen Survolt which will completely dispel the myth that being green is dull.
EcoVelocity is tipped to be a fun, interactive and educational days out with opportunities for all of the family, including:-
The ‘SEAT young drivers’ programme for 11-16 year olds
The ‘Honda my first license’ introduction to motorcycling for young children
The What Car? catwalk parade – presenting the best eco cars in each category
The Green Supercar Paddock
The Eco-Lab – the science behind eco-motoring
Event founder and organiser Giles Brown commented: “In the absence of the British Motor Show in 2011, EcoVelocity will be the most important and definitely not to be missed motoring event of the year, showcasing the best real-world cars for real-world motorists at a single location.
“It is going to be of great interest to motorists learning what the industry has to offer them right now and in the future”.
EcoVelocity is being organised by IMIE, organisers of the British Motor Show and Metro, the World’s largest free newspaper with 3.3 million daily readers nationwide. Metro will be supporting EcoVelocity with a heavyweight, cross-media campaign starting mid-May.
Event partners include What Car?, TfL, The Mayor of London, Source London, Get On and Green Fleet.
