After introducing an all-electric vehicle taxi test fleet one year ago, BYD has now announced the results of its pilot scheme featuring the F3DM, e6 and the eBus-12.
As a result of the trial, BYD plug-in vehicles have accumulated more than 1.769million all-electric miles and have shown no diminished range or capacity as a result of rapid charging. It is estimated that the vehicles have saved $360,000 in fuel costs and more than 2.776million lbs of carbon dioxide.
The trial involved 50 BYD e6 vehicles, each with a range of more than 160miles and a top speed of 88mph.
Meanwhile, 250 more eTaxis will be delivered to the International University in Shenzhen before August. According to the data, each car will save around $1,167 per taxi per month and reduce around 133lbs of carbon dioxide emissions per day per taxi.
According to BYD, the most important finding was that there was noticeable energy drop in the e6 fleet testing.
In addition, the F3DM fleet can travel more than 40miles all electric with the fleet achieving the equivalent of 88mpg. Meanwhile, the eBus-12 achieved the equivalent of a $2,833 monthly per bus saving and 708lbs of carbon dioxide emissions per day.
