Canada begins taking orders for Chevrolet Volt

Seven dealerships across Canada have started to take orders for the Chevrolet Volt.

The vehicle, which will have a market price of C$41,545, will be available in Vancouver, Victoria, Toronto, Oshawa, Ottawa-Gatineau, Montreal and Quebec City. It is expected that within 12 months, the Volt will be available nationwide.

In the USA, the Chevrolet Volt has proven to be a huge draw at dealerships with GM allowing customers to look, touch and drive the electric car with extended range. Almost nine out of 10 customers who traded in a vehicle as part of their purchase are new to the Chevrolet brand and it is thought that 100s of Volts could be sold as demonstration vehicles.

The initial launch markets of California, Connecticut, Maryland, Michigan, New Jersey, New York, Texas, Virginia and Washington, DC, have taken delivery of more than 550 demonstration vehicles and by the end of the year 2,500 US dealers will receive the vehicle.

It is expected that the Volt will be in all 50 states by the end of 2011.
