At a Press Conference at its Cincinnati, Ohio, facility, AMP Electric Vehicles revealed its first electrified Mercedes Benz ML350 SUV.
The AMP ML350 includes a lithium iron phosphate battery pack and two rear-mounted permanent magnet AC motors.
The firm, which has a supply agreement with Icelandic company Northern Lights Energy, expects to begin volume deliveries in the September, 2011, timeframe. When fully implemented, the deal is worth as much as $100million to AMP with demand for SUVs thought to be very high in Iceland and currently making up 35 per cent of new vehicle sales.
According to James Taylor, the CEO of AMP, the ML350 SUV fits Iceland’s needs perfectly with room for five people and efficient performance of 100miles per charge.
It is also anticipated that the agreement will lead to further expansion through the Nordic region including Finland, Sweden, Denmark and the Faroe Islands.
