Ford turns its attentions to: school buses?

It doesn’t seem like a natural fit, does it? One of the largest car manufacturers in the world is working on school buses – but that’s exactly what has happened.

Ford Motor Company has teamed with the Georgia Institute of Technology on the US’s first conversion of a traditional school bus into a hydraulic hybrid vehicle, which will run on recycled biofuel.

The project will receive $50,000 in financing from the Ford College Community Challenge Grant. It focuses on converting existing school buses into hydraulic hybrids, which could lower emissions and transportation costs.

The Green Eco School Bus will be painted green by students at Mary Lin Elementary School.
