The winners of the recent Challenge Bibendum which took place in Berlin last week have been revealed.
The 11th annual event, run by tyre maker Michelin combines technical tests, demonstrations, eco rallies and test drives of sustainable and alternatively fuelled vehicles.
During the rallies around Berlin, some as long as 300km, ‘green cars’ in different categories were pitted against each other.
The winners in each category have been named as:
Intercity Passenger Car Rally
-ICE prototype: Audi A3 TCNG
-ICE production: Porsche Panamera S Hybrid
-Electric drive prototype: Toyota FCHV
-Electric drive production: Renault Z.E électrique
Battery Electric Rally
-Concept vehicles: ex-aequo: Lupo EL from the Eindhoven University of Technology and RaceAbout from Helsinki Metropolia University of Applied Science.
-Production and prototype vehicles: three ex-aequo: Audi A3 e-tron, Mercedes A Class E-CELL and Volvo C30 Electric.
Urban Vehicle Rally
-Electric propulsion bikes: HR2 – ID Bike presented by EnBWEnergie Baden Wüttemberg AG – HR2
-Light quadricycles: Microcar
-Heavy quadricycles: MEGA Multitruck from the Consortium for the Electrification of Vehicles
-Urban cars: Nissan LEAF
