Volkswagen introduces new Tiguan

After introducing the new Tiguan at the Geneva Motor Show in March, Volkswagen has now announced when the vehicle will be available on the road.

The model will debut in Germany in mid-June 2012, and will then be made available in other European countries at the beginning of August.

The new version features a range of seven engines with fuel consumption from 27mpg to 44mpg – the latter being the Tiguan 2.0 TDI with BlueMotion technology. Three of the seven engines are new to the line-up – there will be four petrol engines and three diesel engines. A seven speed dual clutch transmission will also be available as an option.

Featured in the BlueMotion versions of the Tiguan will be a stop/start system and battery regeneration.

Its main markets are Europe, Russia, the US, China, Brazil and Australia. It has a 21 per cent SUV market share in Germany where advance sales have already begun.
