News in brief: Mitsubishi i-MiEV for Europe public sector

Police departments and municipalities are among the areas of the European public sector being targeted by Mitsubishi Motors Corporation as it looks to increase sales of its’ i-MiEV electric car.

The Japanese carmaker hopes that the high importance on environmental protection in the European public sector means there will be more willingness to swallow the additional expenses of electric vehicles.

The aim is to produce and ship 25,000 i-MiEV vehicles worldwide in fiscal 2011 – which would represent a three-fold jump compared to the previous year. Most of the sales will be targeted on Europe.
