Renault EV tour heads around Europe

Renault is embarking on a European tour to give early EV customers the chance to try out its ground-breaking Z.E range.

The French car maker will travel through 11 European countries, including the UK, with the three Kangoo Z.E models and three Fluence Z.E models to give invited guests an exclusive opportunity to learn more about the cars and test drive them.

Just two of four electric models from the car maker, set to launch by 2012, the tour has already taken the vehicles through Spain and now heads to France, where it will tour six cities; Paris, Bordeaux, Lille, Strasbourg, Lyon and Marseille.

From there, the tour will head to Portugal, Italy, the UK, Ireland, Belgium, the Netherlands, Austria and Switzerland and possibly Germany.

Anyone who reserves a vehicle on www.renault-ze.com will have an opportunity to drive the vehicle of their choice for four kilometres in real-world driving situations including on the open road and in the city. Each test drive will be accompanied by an expert who can answer any questions. If there are any time slots left, test-drives will also be offered to members of the public who have not reserved. Renault hopes to schedule about 100 test-drives a day in France.

Educational thematic workshops will also be held to inform potential customers about the charging stations, range, connected services, the engine and the battery. The full four Renault Z.E. models including the Twizy and ZOE will also be on display.

The Fluence Z.E, a large saloon, will be priced from € 21,300 incl-VAT when it launches this autumn. Battery rental for this model starts at €79 incl-VAT per month. Meanwhile the Renault Kangoo Z.E, based on the small van of the same name, will also arrive this autumn and will cost from €15,000 ex-VAT (minus the €5,000 eco bonus). Battery rental for the Kangoo starts at €72 ex-VAT per month.
