Hertz has become the first major car rental firm to offer electric bikes for rental alongside its range of passenger and commercial vehicles.
The bikes, supplied by Ultra Motor, will be available to hire in London. The firm is supplying its new Fast4Ward models along with its A2B hybrid models, to the rental company so that visitors and residents alike can explore the capital through electric cycling. With a top speed of 15.5mph (more than double the average manual cycling speed) the models have a range of up to 40 miles of electric drive, but unlimited manual peddling range (well as long as your legs will last anyway).
Twelve bikes are available for daily rental from Hertz’s Marble Arch location, for £20 per day. With every electric bike hire, customers will receive full training, a lock, optional helmet and a copy of the AA Leisure Guide to London with suggested bike rides around the capital.
The two models types available, both offer a flexible approach to cycling. The Fast4ward Edge is a folding bike which offers the choice of using throttle and cruise power or to pedal, while the A2B Hybrid 24 has a sensor that detects the amount of pedalling and applies power in tune with that pace. Either way, you can rest your weary legs when tackling a steep hill or when they are just exhausted from a day’s work.
The Ultra Motor electric bicycles can be easily parked and locked to bike racks so customers can use them as a mode of transport to reach London landmarks, or to explore London parks in a fun and unique way.
Michel Taride, President of Hertz International, commented: “Whether you’re a Londoner wanting to explore hidden treasures or find new places to shop, or a tourist wanting to see all London has to offer, the Ultra Motor bikes are a fast, green and economical mode of transport. Always committed to providing our customers with a range of mobility solutions, we are pleased to offer electric bikes for an easy and fun way to explore the capital.”
If you don’t live in London and don’t plan to visit, then you could also consider buying one of Ultra Motor’s electric bikes. Its new Fast4Ward range of bikes; Edge, Ride and Peak are priced from £999. For a limited time only, Ultra Motor are inviting people to give the new Fast4ward a free trial in its ‘Try before you buy’ initiative. Those interested in buying an e-bike can borrow one for a maximum of three days before they decide if it’s for them. Ultra Motor are encouraging testers to take a video diary of their time on the bikes, and upload them onto YouTube and Facebook for a fantastic chance to win the bike they tried out.
The Fast4ward bike range is available at independent bike shops up and down the country. For a full list of dealers and for more information visit www.ultramotor.com.
