It’s all looking good at Goodwood later this week, as the famous racing ground holds the Moving Motor Show and the Festival of Speed.
Despite being the comfortable home of high performance vehicles, the forthcoming events have distinctly green themes.
On Thursday June 30, the manufacturer preview day will take place ahead of three days of the Festival of Speed (between 1-3 July), with a host of exciting debuts. The Jaguar C-X75 hybrid will make its debut on British soil and the public will be treated to a rare chance to see the Peugeot EX1- the record-breaking electric car concept which can accelerate to 62mph in just 3.49 seconds. Peugeot will also bring with it the petrol-hybrid HR1 concept- a compact MPV which could be the next place you’ll see the car maker’s unique diesel hybrid technology being used.
With more than 175,000 visitors expected across the four days, Goodwood will celebrate the both supercars and super technology with opportunities to test drive some models. The cars will undertake hundreds of runs on a special evaluation route that includes the world famous Goodwood hillclimb, fully dressed and prepared for the Festival of Speed, which kicks off the following day. This year’s theme for the Festival is ‘Racing Revolutions – Quantum leaps that shaped motor sport’, celebrating the ceaseless quest for increased power; greater efficiency and yet more speed.
During the three days of the Festival itself, each of the Moving Motor Show exhibits will remain on static display for all Goodwood visitors to see and admire. Moving Motor Show dynamic public debuts will include the Citroen DS4, Morgan 3-Wheeler, Abarth 695 Tributo Ferrari, Ford Focus Estate and BMW 1 Series M.
Other exciting models at the event include the Honda CR-Z Mugen, Range Rover Evoque and Citroen Survolt concept.
A FoS-TECH technology pavilion will showcase a variety of exciting future-focused automotive technologies. Rarely-seen concepts being displayed in this year’s FoS-TECH include the European debut of the Chevrolet Mi-Ray, plus the Infiniti Etherea, SEAT IBE, Rolls-Royce 102EX, Renault Captur, Gordon Murray Design T25 and T27, and the GM EN-V.
Plus as we mentioned last week, you can witness Nissan’s all-electric Leaf take Goodwood Hill backwards, in which it hopes to take the record for the fastest reversing speed up the hill (see story).
