Could THINK be saved from bankruptcy?

Just two weeks after being driven into bankruptcy (see article) it appears there is fresh hope for electric car maker THINK.

A Turkey-based sustainable transport group, BD Otomotiv, is said to be in advanced negotiations with the Norwegian court-appointed Trustee of THINK Global to rescue the electric vehicle brand.

In recent years, BD Otomotiv has focused on electric transportation and owns and operates production facilities inTurkeyandItalyfor the conversion of light commercial vehicles into electric vehicles; as well as automotive battery pack assembly; and a new recycling plant for lithium-ion and other industrial batteries. It has made a number of major investments into electric vehicle charging infrastructure and owns and operates charging stations acrossTurkey.

According to its chairman Osman Boyner, its goal is simple – it wants to bring THINK out of bankruptcy and make it the affordable urban electric vehicle forEurope. He believes these goals can be achieved thanks to its manufacturing capabilities and sales network, as well as retaining a core group of THINK talent inNorway.
