Ever wondered how committed German manufacturer Daimler is to the electrification of the automobile? Just take a look at its participation in the second Silvretta electric car rally and you’ll get a clear idea.
The event, which is ongoing and ends on Saturday, features a total of seven electric cars from the Mercedes-Benz and Smart brands, including: the Smart Fortwo electric drive, the Mercedes-Benz B-Class F-CELL, the Mercedes-Benz A-Class E-CELL and the Mercedes SLS AMG E-CELL, which is scheduled for launch in 2013.
This year’s electric car rally will cover 186miles and a total difference in altitude of 3.42miles. This means it is more than twice as long as the premiere event in 2010 and has more demanding gradients by up to 14 per cent.
