Volkswagen BlueMotion scoops Auto Express Green Award

At the Auto Express awards last night, Volkswagen’s BlueMotion range was named winner of the inaugural Green Award.

Acting editor for Auto Express Graham Hope said: ‘The winner of our inaugural Green Award could have been a car, a person or a piece of technology – but in the end it went to an entire brand. The Volkswagen BlueMotion range takes the prize for the way its economy boosting kit delivers real-world gains to consumers with so few compromises.’

That wasn’t the only award for Volkswagen on the night, with class victories for the Golf and Golf GTI taking the carmaker’s haul to three trophies. For the third year in a row the Golf was named Best Compact Family Car, while its high performance sibling the GTI was named Best Hot Hatch – again the third time in a row that the model has won that particular award.

Chris Craft, Director of Volkswagen UK, said: ‘We’re delighted that the Golf has retained these coveted titles, and especially proud to have won the Green Award for our BlueMotion range, which shows that it is possible to offer practical real-world fuel economy benefits without compromising on practicality, affordability, quality, safety or comfort.’

What a con this is. Put £ in the car find a hill or two and see what you get to the gallon. Road tax lost here is made up by the honest.
