Electric supercar showcase heads to EcoVelocity

If your idea of what an electric car is like to drive still stands somewhere close to the milk float image, then the EcoVelocity show could be the perfect place to have that myth well and truly busted.

Along with a host of other low carbon vehicle attractions, the show, which is set to take place in the grounds of Battersea Power Station next month, will showcase an impressive array of the latest and greatest performance electric cars.

Now most of us will already be familiar with the Tesla Roadster, but this car is not alone in offering zero tailpipe emissions and blistering performance.

Green supercars at the show will include the Bluebird Electric, which unfortunately failed to break its land speed record this weekend (see story) but nonetheless holds the record at an astonishing 137mph.

Also featuring will be the Delta Motorsport E-4 Coupe, which has a driving range of 200 miles on a single charge; the superfast Evelio, which can do 0-60mph in 3.2 seconds; the Lighting GT which produces 700 HP; the Nemisis Electric Sports Car, built entirely in the UK and the Westfield Sport E, which can reach 100kph in just 7 seconds.

Giles Brown, EcoVelocity Event Director, said: “The addition of the green supercar paddock might well be a little bit unexpected for some visitors and will definitely grab a lot of attention, but that is the whole point, changing perceptions.

“We are here to educate people about eco friendly motoring which is evolving all the time.”

EcoVelocity will run from September 8-11th and will feature the latest green models, including electric, hybrid and low CO2-emitting cars, as well as providing test drives on a specially-constructed circuit.

Market leading brands attending the event include Citroen, Fiat, Ford, Honda, Hyundai, Kia, Mitsubishi, Nissan, Peugeot, Renault, SEAT, Vauxhall, Volvo, Toyota, Lexus and Mia Electric.
