E.ON selects efficient Fiesta Econetic models

Energy firm E.ON has just taken a delivery of 340 new Ford Fiesta 1.6-litre TDCi ECOnetics for use by its home energy advisors. As energy advisors, their mode of transport had to be efficient in the spirit of their role with the firm. As such E.ON chose Ford’s lowest emitting and extra fuel efficient Econetic models to help its consultants get to customers.

Operating a fleet of some 4,100 cars and light commercials, E.ON has enjoyed a long partnership with Ford, with its current fleet about 64 per cent Ford vehicles.

The 340 new Ford Fiestas replace previous-generation Fiesta models, which the home energy consultants have driven for the past three years. Contract hired from Lex Autolease, the vehicles are expected to cover an average of 20,000 miles a year, including personal and business use. E.ON has recently changed its fleet car replacement period from three to four years.

Nina Hughes, Fleet Development Manager, Business Services, said: "We have had good feedback from the drivers of our Ford Fiestas, and the lower CO2 emissions of the new Fiesta ECOnetic models will help us deliver on our lower emissions policy as well as providing reduced fuel consumption.

"As a company we have an overall fleet CO2 reduction target of 40 per cent by the year 2020, having achieved reductions exceeding 10 per cent a year, since 2008. We are expecting these Ford cars to further help in achieving our goal."

The Ford Fiesta Edge ECOnetic offers fuel economy of 78.5mpg (combined cycle) and CO2 emissions of just 95g/km, making it exempt from road tax and one of the most fuel-efficient five-seater cars on the UK market.

Standard specification for the Ford Fiesta Edge ECOnetic includes air conditioning, electric/heated mirrors, front electric windows, MP3/CD player, ABS, multiple airbags, traction control, electronic stability programme, immobiliser and remote central locking.
