Set to be revealed at next week’s Frankfurt Motor Show, the revised 5-door hatchback will have an official CO2 emission figure of 96g/km. Honda has achieved this by tinkering with the model’s aerodynamics, reducing engine friction and alterations to the CVT auto transmission.
The sub-100g/km threshold is an important benchmark in the UK as it means the 2012 Insight will be exempt from the London Congestion Charge, be eligible for the lowest VED band, and as a company car it will remain in one of the lowest groups for Benefit in Kind tax.
The engineers haven’t stopped there either, as there’s also changes to the front grille and a slimline spoiler at the rear. And as the photo shows the car is looking much improved.
Finally, there’s also adjustments to the suspension for an overall improvement to ride comfort and stability, and interior quality has been enhanced.
