As it looks to breakout from the pack as an electric vehicle manufacturer, CODA Holdings has acquired EnergyCS – a leading developer of battery management systems.
The two companies have worked together already on the CODA Sedan, with EnergyCS having earlier developed one of the first commercial plug-in hybrid conversion kits for the Toyota Prius.
Among the assets that have been acquired as part of the merger are high voltage management and isolation detection, an adaptable base architecture, long-term performance management of battery systems and an optimised circuit and wiring design with EnergyCS’s headquarters just 30miles away from CODA’s Los Angeles base.
According to Peter Nortman, the co-founder of EnergyCS, the company has succeeded in developing “the most advanced battery management system that ensures safety, performance and reliability of battery systems for electric and hybrid vehicles”. He believes that the merger will create new opportunities to expand its technology portfolio.
CODA meanwhile, believes the acquisition will support its existing offerings in electric vehicles and stationary energy storage while also enhancing its offerings in electric vehicle propulsion systems and ensuring it can offer competitive pricing.
