Ahead of the launch of its new wagon-type mini vehicle, scheduled for introduction in December, Japanese carmaker Honda has announced that an idling stop mechanism will be included as standard.
The start-stop systems help improve fuel economy as they bring the engine to a complete halt when the car slows to a crawl. Over the last few years, Japanese carmakers have been aggressively adding them to their new models but Honda has yet to respond – not offering start-stop even as an option on any of its own petrol models.
However, according to a report in the Nikkei, that’s about to change with Honda aiming to use this fuel efficiency weapon to grasp a lion share of the mini-vehicle market.
Its new wagon-type mini-vehicle will offer best in class fuel economy of 54mpg.
