Mitsubishi and Nissan to extend electric car agreement

Japanese carmakers Nissan and Mitsubishi have announced that they will expand their manufacturer supply agreements in the Japanese market.

From summer 2012, Nissan will provide the Fuga luxury saloon car to Mitsubishi; and the companies have also started deliberations on the provision of Mitsubishi’s MINICAB-MiEV commercial mini electric vehicle to Nissan from 2012.

The two agreements are part of the project outlined in December 2010 to expand cooperation.

They follow on from an agreement for Nissan to provide the NV200 Vanette compact van to Mitsubishi starting this month; and a joint venture known as NMKV Company, which was set up in June.
