More Tokyo Motor Show news this morning-Honda is to reveal no less than seven concepts at its home country’s biggest automotive event.
Five of them will be electric and a six is a hybrid. The final seven concept is a mobility concept, called Townwalker, which can be easily loaded into a car. Of the five EV concepts, three will be motorcycle type vehicles.
The small sports EV concept will definitely be one of the more head turning concepts (pictured above) at the show with a focus on fun to drive characteristics and yet outstanding environmental performance.
Another highlight will be the AC-X plug-in hybrid (above) which will offer a more flexible approach to motoring, able to deal with inner city driving and longer distance journeys. It also offers a choice of ‘engine drive mode’ for a more engaging drive or ‘automatic drive’ for a more relaxed commute.
Finally, like almost all the car makers these days, Honda will show a compact new mobility concept vehicle-a sort of motorcycle crossed with a car- which will seat two and suit short urban driving styles.
This Micro Commuter concept (left) will be accompanied by three EV motorcycle concepts, all designed to appeal to the densely populated, highly urbanised people of Tokyo.
Honda will also be showcasing the ‘N Concept’, a new mini-vehicle series and the first production model in the series, the N BOX; designed to offer maximum interior space in a compact exterior. Other production models on display in the car area include the Accord, Insight, Jazz and CR-Z.
As a part of ‘smart mobility city 2011’, a themed project that Japan Automobile Manufacturers Association, Inc. (JAMA) will hold at the motor show venue, Honda will also showcase the FCX Clarity fuel cell electric vehicle, EV-neo electric scooter, EV-Monpal electric cart, as well as the Honda Smart Home System which features several Honda-developed energy production technologies, including a gas engine cogeneration unit and a solar powered system to reduce household and mobility CO2 emissions. The Tokyo Motor Show takes place at Tokyo Big Sight from Saturday 3 December to Sunday 11 December 2011.
