Swedish car brand Volvo will team up with Shanghai International Automobile City Group to bring two Volvo C30 Electric cars to the region.
The vehicles will be positioned in Jiading, outside Shanghai, with the aim being to get a better understanding of how drivers use the vehicles, as well as their expectations.
Shanghai was selected as an international electric vehicle pilot city back in January, 2011. Already an infrastructure of 13,000 charging stations and 15 battery swap stations is being built to support the real-life use of electric vehicles.
The Volvo C30 Electric will be the first electric car from an international brand presented in the city. It has been produced since June with cars leased to customers in selected European countries. It features a 20kWh battery and has a 93mile range, a top speed of 81mph and can race from 0-50km/h in four seconds.
